The National Cancer Society of Malaysia and Pharm-D Health Science VALENS® Support Fund aims to strengthen and support the integration of Specialised Nutrition as a core component of cancer care.

Bridging the gap of clinical nutrition in cancer care

Nutrition plays a critical role in treatment tolerance, recovery, and overall well-being. Yet, many patients, particularly those in underserved communities, face challenges to access the specialised nutrition they need due to financial constraints.

The NCSM – Pharm-D HS VALENS® Support Fund was established to help bridge this gap: to ensure that nutrition support becomes an accessible and essential part of care, not an added burden.

About the VALENS® Support Fund

A shared belief and commitment that effective cancer care extends beyond medical treatment.

The NCSM – Pharm-D HS VALENS® Support Fund is a CSR collaboration between National Cancer Society Malaysia and Pharm-D Health Science, established to strengthen cancer care through better nutrition support and access.

We focus on improving access to specialised nutrition, where we help patients and caregivers maintain strength, resilience, and quality of life throughout the cancer care journey.

Every VALENS® Purchase Contributes to Cancer Care

A portion of sales proceeds from every VALENS® purchase is allocated to support cancer patients in need of specialised nutrition.

VALENS® (Onthera+ logo) “1,000 Cans of Hope” Patient Nutrition Support Initiative

Through the “1,000 Cans of Hope” initiative, VALENS® ONTHERA+, a complete and balanced immunonutrition, is provided to patients within the NCSM care network.

This support helps strengthen cancer patient’s nutritional status, improve immune resilience and treatment tolerance, and overall improving the patient’s quality of life.

Awareness & Education

We aim to increase understanding of the critical role of specialised nutrition in cancer care among healthcare professionals, caregivers, patients and the rest of the community. By disseminating evidence-based information and fostering clinical knowledge, we seek to bridge the nutritional gap, highlight the importance of early nutritional intervention, and address the unique challenges patients face in maintaining strength and resilience throughout their treatment journey.

Patient Engagement & Support

Equip and empower cancer patients and caregivers with the right knowledge on nutrition in cancer care. Through coordinated care networks, access to specialised nutrition support, and guided assessment by healthcare professionals, the Fund provides structured support of nutritional interventions to help patients navigate their cancer care journey with greater confidence and resilience.

Nutrition Access and Sustainable Care

The VALENS® Support Fund is designed to improve access to specialised nutrition. Through a sustainable model that allocates a portion of sales proceeds from every VALENS® purchase, alongside product support via the VALENS Onthera+ “1,000 Cans of Hope” initiative, the Fund helps mitigate financial barriers and improve access to essential nutrition support for patients in need. By supporting needs-based allocation, coordinated distribution, and ongoing patient follow-up, the Fund enables a more sustainable care system and reinforces nutrition as an integral component of cancer care management.

What is the NCSM – Pharm-D HS VALENS Support Fund?

How is this Fund different from a patient organisation?

The VALENS® Support Fund is not a patient organisation.It functions as a structured support initiative focused on improving access to specialised nutrition as part of cancer care. The Fund works in collaboration with National Cancer Society Malaysia to complement existing patient support services.

Does the Fund provide direct medical treatment or advice?

No. The VALENS® Support Fund does not provide medical treatment or clinical advice.All patient care decisions, including eligibility and nutritional needs, are assessed and guided by qualified healthcare professionals within the National Cancer Society Malaysia care network.

How does the VALENS® Support Fund support patients?

The Fund supports patients through two key initiatives:A sustainable funding model, where a portion of sales proceeds from VALENS® products contributes to National Cancer Society Malaysia patient support initiatives.

Targeted initiatives such as the VALENS® Onthera+ \”1,000 Cans of Hope\” initiative, providing specialised nutrition solutions to patients within the care network.

Support is delivered through coordinated clinical assessment, distribution, and follow-up processes.

Who is eligible to receive support from the Fund?

Patients requiring specialised medical nutrition support may be considered, subject to assessment by healthcare professionals within the National Cancer Society Malaysia care network.Eligibility is determined based on individual needs and clinical considerations.
